Making God's BreathWorking once again with frequent collaborator John Miller, God's Breath grew from a deceptively simple idea: gather the essential scriptures of the world's seven major wisdom traditions (including Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Sufism, and Taoism) into a single, elegantly designed volume. The title draws from a Zen saying: "To understand God is to listen. Listen to Jesus and Muhammad and Buddha, but don't get caught up in the names. Listen beyond them; listen to God's breath."
Introduced by acclaimed writer and scholar Thomas Moore, the selections are pulled from the Book of Genesis, the Tao Te Ching, the Bhagavad Gita, the Qur'an, the Book of Rumi, the Gospel of John, and the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
Published by Marlowe & Sons, the book is beautifully designed and produced, with gatefolds and deckled edges.
Each selection is presented alongside a detailed woodcut by illustrator Stephanie Heald, and introduced by notable religious scholars including Huston Smith, Karen Armstrong, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Joseph Campbell, and Carl Jung.
Publishers Weekly called the book "a valuable compendium of sacred texts... an essential companion for students of world religions."
